Renovation & Resurfacing

Pool Remodel & Renovation in Orange County

An aging pool doesn't need a full rebuild to look brand new. Our remodel projects — typically completed in about six weeks — span resurfacing, new tile and coping, added spas and baja shelves, modern water features, and full equipment upgrades to high-efficiency systems. We rebuild Orange County pools to look and run like the day they were poured.

The Coastline Standard

  • Resurfacing with PebbleTec & quartz finishes
  • New waterline tile, coping & decking
  • Add a spa, baja shelf or sheer-descent during your remodel
  • Variable-speed equipment upgrades that cut energy costs

Is Your Pool a Remodel Candidate?

  • Stained or worn plaster that no chemical treatment fixes
  • Dated tile, brick coping, or a finish that fights your home's current look
  • Equipment past its service life — single-speed pumps, failing heaters
  • A pool that functions but doesn't get used — usually a design problem, not a mechanical one

Remodel Scopes, From Refresh to Transformation

A surface remodel — re-plaster, new waterline tile, and new coping — takes about three weeks and makes a 1970s pool look brand new. A full transformation adds a spa or baja shelf, modern water features, reconfigured decking, and new equipment, and runs roughly six weeks.

Most remodels don't require rebuilding from scratch — the gunite shell is usually sound. We evaluate the structure first and tell you honestly what needs replacing and what doesn't.

Why Remodels Punish Shortcuts

Remodel work looks simpler than new construction, but it punishes shortcuts: bonding to old finishes fails without proper surface prep, and equipment upgrades need hydraulics matched to the existing shell. We bring the same engineering rigor to a remodel as to a new build.

What a Pool Remodel Costs

Most Orange County pool remodels land between $40,000 and $80,000. Where a project falls in that range depends on scope rather than pool size alone:

  • Surface remodel — re-plaster, new waterline tile and new coping, about three weeks of work
  • Full remodel — the surface work plus equipment, decking, and added features like a spa or baja shelf, about six weeks
  • Equipment-only upgrades — pumps, heaters, filtration and automation, quoted after we inspect what's there
  • Structural repairs — only when the shell inspection finds cracking or a failing bond beam, and we'll show you why

“Our pool remodel, which included adding a Jacuzzi to the deep end of the pool, turned out exactly how we envisioned, thanks to Coastline Pools. … A special thanks to Luis, our project manager, who went above and beyond - keeping us updated on progress, answering our questions, and making sure everything ran smoothly.”

Pool Remodel FAQs

Most pools only need a remodel — the gunite shell usually outlasts the plaster, tile and equipment. Structural cracking or a failing bond beam can change that, so we inspect the shell before quoting and show you what we find.

Most Orange County remodels run $40,000–$80,000. A surface remodel (plaster, tile and coping) sits at the lower end; adding equipment, decking, a spa or water features moves it up.

About three weeks for a surface remodel and about six for a full remodel that adds features, decking or new equipment.

Resurfacing alone often doesn't, but adding a spa, changing the plumbing or electrical, or altering the shell does — and a permitted remodel brings California's pool safety-feature requirements into play. We tell you during the evaluation which applies.
